C section Incision - infection or healing?

Hello!

wondering if anyone can help I had a C-section five weeks ago this Thursday, on Christmas Day I turned slightly funny and hurt one side of it although it looked fine still. It just hurt internally more than anything, since then the incisions healed really well especially on the right hand side it's now completely closed, a flat scar, but on the left-hand side which is the side that I hurt, we also noticed that there's a slight stitch that's still sticking out on the end of it and I get this intense searing burning pain The radiators from that side some days it's worse than others but it's always noticeable.
It also still looks a little bit scabby on that side although it's not open, it's not weeping. It doesn't look red or angry but I'm getting a lot of pain from that side and I don't know whether that's normal healing?
I've heard that apparently the Nerves That have been cut can cause a burning sensation, or whether it could be signs that there are an underlying infection on that side and something that I should get looked at by my GP.

I can't go back to my midwife now as I've been discharged from her just looking for any advice from anyone that's had one before I go down the route of trying to get a GP appointment at some point This week.

If it's infected will it always be weeping or red or is pain a sign of infection? I've No pain from the right side. X

I've had 3 c-sections, my last being 4 years ago.
I had to remove a stitch from the end of the scar on all 3 occasions as the end one where the knot was tied didn't dissolve.
I still have pain on one side if I move in a certain way or pull the skin on one side of my scar. At my 2nd and 3rd c-sections they found a lot of internal adhesion and this must be the cause of the pain as it feels like that is what causes it.
This could maybe be the case for you?
Maybe you could phone the HV team and ask for advice?

Without looking at it, it’s hard to tell OP. It sounds like you need to see the GP

Hi @Lunamoon23 ,not sure where you're based but your EOU midwife unit usually can see you up until 6 weeks postnatal. I'm in Northern Ireland and this is the case here but it may apply where you are.

Re stitches, I had one that wouldn't come away until my 6 week checkup where the nurse pulled it out.

If there's no redness or weeping, the burning sensation is usually down to the side they finished on and tied up, as it's the tightest part. I'm on my 2nd c section recovery currently and finding the same, tenderness at one side. X

I had one where a stich didn't dissolve. The urse at my gp surgery couldn't sort it so I boiled some tweezers and nail scissors, pulled it up as hard as I could, snipped it against the skin and the end disappeared. My skin was then able to heal.
