C-Section Recovery - week 9

I’m 9 weeks post elective c-section. The experience itself was positive - I feel really fortunate to have had the experience I did. However, I’m 9 weeks and still not signed off to drive, swim or do exercise (aside of walking) GP checked my wound and said another 2-4 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this? Seems like a long time?

I didn't have to ask for permission for those things except driving? My insurance just asked if I felt I could do an emergency stop and at 3 weeks I was capable so I've been driving since then. Who told you that toh needed to be signed off?

Agreed with OP. You don't need to be signed off to do any of those things. I don't drive, but from others that do they've said their insurance says they can drive whenever they feel able to do an emergency stop. Exercise would probably be ok, but if the GP thinks what's left of the wound on your skin needs a little longer before going swimming, I'd be inclined to wait.

That is very unusual OP. How are you feeling in yourself? Did you need antibiotics and/or additional aftercare for your incision that would make these activities trickier?

Interesting! Good to know, thanks all. My doctor looked at my wound and said this. I feel really good - still tender to touch but I was really surprised. No antibiotics or anything since the C-section
