At what gestation did you go into labour with your first dc?☺️

Was either of those induced?

No spontaneous labour. Neither baby needed breathing help due to gestation.

Second baby had other issues and went to NICU but not related to gestation/ size.

both normal size babies and neither needed steroids for lungs

41+4 induced
41+6 natural labour after a sweep - this was much better than the induction

But in my baby group we varied from 4 weeks early to my near 2 weeks over and everything in between

annlee3817 · 07/01/2025 23:22

DD1 - Spontaneous labour at 40+5 (although by my calculations 40 weeks) 5 hour labour
DD2 - Induced 39 weeks, labour at 39+5 - 5 hours

OurDreamLife · 07/01/2025 23:26

38+5
24 hour labour. Arrived at hospital at 10cm.

vipersnest1 · 07/01/2025 23:33

40 + 11, DC1 born 40 + 13. (Back to back labour which was undiagnosed.)
40 + 7, DC2 born 40 + 8 after a sweep.

@Christmasandallthetrimmings it was in many ways but also absolutely petrifying as it was so bloody quick (no time for any interventions and made it to the hospital by the skin of my teeth!) so it felt wildly out of control. Although i would choose it again over my longer labour with dc1.
It all went fine luckily and I was back home before dc1 even woke up the next morning which was nice 😂

I think I would have mentally handled this kind of out of control quick labour, so much better as years of TV shows and films would have mentally prepared me for it. There's no real mental training for a long long labour, and no one really mentions it as a possibility when you're doing your birth plan or looking at birth videos etc....I found it really really hard because I didn't recognise the routine at all. My mind was expecting it all over by the end of the first day...although I'm guessing they couldn't exactly make a three day labour film 😂😂

Due day, waters broke about 5 am at home, baby born just before noon.

BrieHugger · 07/01/2025 23:35

Induced at 40+15 and he’s still a lazy sod

Bunny2006 · 09/01/2025 20:38

Waters broke at 39+3 but contractions didn't start so was induced with the drip and baby born 39+5 (28 hour labour)

Flamingofarm · 09/01/2025 20:46

I’ve never quite managed to go into labour on my own! 😂

Baby 1 - induced at 39+1
About 12h between arriving at hospital and giving birth

Baby 2 - induced at 40+1
About 1.5h between induction starting and giving birth

Baby 3 - remains to be seen!
I’m presuming they’ll need to be coaxed out too…
