Second c section positive stories?

I’m having my second elective c section this week (maternal request) and starting to get nervous!

does anyone have any nice stories of their second c section?

how did you find recovery and managing life with more than one child?

how did it feel meeting your baby?

thanks !

Hi, my second baby is 10 months old and I’ve had 2 c sections.
I would say my second c section was fairly relaxed as I knew what to expect. I didn’t spend very long in the recovery ward as I knew what I was doing. I drank lots, had my catheter taken out quickly and started to move slowly which massively helped. I knew I couldn’t spend much time sitting with a baby and a little one at home.

The love I felt for my baby was insane, it really feels like your heart just grows even bigger. The moment my oldest came to meet the baby, I cried, she felt so grown up and was instantly in love with ‘her baby’.

Recovery felt longer than the first time around, I kept getting infections which is apparently fairly common the second time around. The injections sadly were far more painful than the c section itself. It took about 7-8 weeks after birth for the c section to heal. After talking to a few other mums, most experienced a longer recovery.

managing life with 2 children was a little difficult as first but you quickly get into the swing of it! Now it feels like second nature to me!

Go easy on yourself, take things at your own pace! If tv is on a lot then great, don’t worry about anything like that!
The love you feel when you are home with both your babies is incredible! I would go through all the c section infection pain again as it was worthwhile for my little ones!

@Lostworlds oof, that sounds quite rough! Hoping to avoid infections but you never know and it’s good to know it’s quite common so I can be prepared for the possibility. The thought of having two is scaring me but it’s lovely to know how strongly you felt love for your second straight away! I’m hoping to be able to relax and enjoy it all this time, as it’ll most likely be my last baby x

First baby was emergency section and we were in shock as it was a worrying time and we were both zombies til the next day when it hit us she was safely here - it wasn't an ideal birth! Second baby was in the same awkward position as first so co sultans said elective section only birth ad it failed the first time, and it was a more positive experience, slow transition to theatre, did the anaesthetic, everyone in good spirits and chatting, no stress or drama - much better experience. Baby was fine, giggles when he was sucked back into my uterus as the surgeon said Aahh he wants to stay inside today lol - placenta came out and I said OMG what have you done I feel so much relief and they laughed when I heard it was the placenta and I said gos that was sucking the life out of me ... afterwards he was put straight into my arms and we went upstairs to the ward and he was just cuddled all day - it was a lovely experience! I was picking up my 3 year old within a few days and she got a special toy which she loved and also really loved helping out with the new baby too - good luck and just enjoy the drama-less day!
