Csection Pending ... Hand hold.

Hello!

So I've got my C section a week tomorrow - and the nerves have massively started to overtake. Finding myself waking in the night overwhelmed with anxiety, thinking about it 90% of the time throughout the day and feeling quiet alone in my feelings as of course, nobody else will truly understand because it's not them. Husband is great - but again, it's not him.
I've never had surgery, never even had a filling or tooth pulled, I have quite severe health anxiety and I'm terrified of hospitals and needles/blood. I've been supported by the Pre natal MH Team and they've been great, I've been granted my husband staying in hospital with me overnight, (in a side room) which is a relief as I would of self discharged without that. But I'm just looking for positive affirmations and experiences and a hand hold really... any tips for keeping my anxiety under wraps. I've done a playlist etc.. x

Just wanted to say that my planned Caesarean was SO calm and easy. I felt very lucky that my baby was breech! I'd take it over labour any day.

The first few days were difficult, pain wise, but after that I healed really quickly.

Good luck OP, you'll be absolutely fine, I was exactly the same as you are feeling now as I suffer with severe health anxiety and in July I had my 5th c section, if you're working with perinatal mental health you can speak to them and see if you can be put to go first ( so long as they have no Emergency sections arise) then you don't have hours to sit in hospital worrying. The procedure is so relaxed and you will have so many people around you who do this everyday, they just talk to you like nothing is happening which I found comforting. I do get what you mean though with the anxiety making you feel so alone as no one else is actually going to be the one having the surgery, but I promise it will all be well, so please enjoy the process you'll be meeting your beautiful baby boy and it will be magical 💙, a playlist of my own music also helped a lot.

Just take one day at a time for now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy as before you know it you'll have a gorgeuous baby boy growing before your eyes. You've got this!

Wow, your 5th. You champ. Any other tips you can give? Given your experience now of them. Just for reference I'm having a spinal, and will be awake. Baby is footling breech. X
