Hi there,
Currently 32+5 and baby measured 1.6 kilo last week and i have GD was told that he's a normal size ..

I'm not sure how much more hell grow and i don't want to get up to one month for it to be too small, whereas 0-3 might be too big! Help!

Unless your baby is huge newborn should be fine, but if you’re worried you could take vests and baby grows in a couple of sizes. You’ll want to take a few baby grows anyway as they often end up sicked and pooed on.

FindingMeno · 29/11/2024 06:28

I got newborn size thinking 0-3 months would be too big. My DH had to dash and get some tiny baby size clothes ( full term overdue).
Don't overthink it. Whatever size you decide, there's a solution if it's wrong!

ZenNudist · 29/11/2024 06:29

Newborn probably OK. Mine were 9lb9(!) And fit NB. GD means bigger babies maybe not as big but don't worry.

0-3 definitely too big

You could get a 1 month as well if you didn't mind risking too small.

Don't get anything elaborate. Easy babygrow. Assuming your first child you want something simpler plus comfy.

Completelyjo · 29/11/2024 06:31

0-3 is actually very big, they come out all scrunched up and even if they are bigger they typically haven’t uncurled all that month.
Either buy newborn from a shop that sizes it up to 10lbs or buy the 1month size from next or M&S.

SunQueen24 · 29/11/2024 06:33

My first was 0-3 and my second newborn.

My eldest was just very long - which I was told, they said he’d be “very big” which he wasn’t really just a long baby!

I took newborn and some 0-3 for each baby.

severyyhv · 29/11/2024 06:34

First baby was 6.3lb needed newborn
Second baby was 9lb needed 0-3m

I get a couple of new born bits but take both to hospital

My little one was very long and the up to 1 month baby grows I had lovingly bought after our 12 week scan which I took with me he wore one once when I realised they were too small. Luckily another brand up to 1 month did fit a bit better but within a week of being home we went up to 0-3 size. So perhaps take a variety of sizes just in case or have a selection in a bag in the car so your birth partner can grab bigger if needed. Good luck with the birth 😊

I jumped on the scales the morning after my first and was delighted to find I weighed exactly what I weighed before I got pregnant. But when DH brought in my jeans I couldn't get them on. Your hips spread. Choose something loose and comfortable.

TheLittleOldWomanWhoShrinks · 29/11/2024 06:41

I had dinky babies who were swamped by the clothes we took in. It was fine - it was just to get them home and we had various things that came up smaller - too small would have been more of a problem.

I wouldn't necessarily set much store by growth scans. My dd was estimated to be 2.8 kg a few weeks before her birth. She came out at term + 10 at 2.5 (perfectly healthy, just tiny and still is).

HooMoo · 29/11/2024 07:09

our baby didn’t fit newborn she wasn’t massive in weight just quite long so it’s very hard to tell

id take a mixture of newborn and 0-3

SpecduckularlyQuackers · 29/11/2024 07:15

DS1 7 lb 7 oz, newborn fitted well
DS2 7 lb 11 oz, straight into 0-3 because he was very long - the cute newborn going home babygrow I'd bought was never worn as his legs didn't fit in it!

You just can't predict it so I'd have a range!

DoublePeonies · 29/11/2024 09:08

You can't predict.
At least too big will still fit them.
FWIW, my 7lb oldest needed 0-3. His 8lb brother fitted the newborn stuff we'd never had chance to use! So even an accurate weight won't help.

Nc546888 · 30/11/2024 22:46

Both mine wore newborn or first size for the first 2 weeks. Then 1 month up to 4-5 weeks.

one 7,2 and the other 6,2

sel2223 · 02/12/2024 17:16

I think most babies will fit in newborn but you could always take something in the next size up as well, just in case (they'll grow into it anyway so not a waste).

My baby was predicted average weight a couple of days before she was born but came out a lot smaller than expected so family had to rush out to buy a few 'tiny baby' things and smaller nappies.... everything I had was huge on her but she fitted in them fine a few weeks later.
I take any growth scans and bump measurements with a pinch of salt now.

RosiePH · 02/12/2024 17:25

My GD baby was still wearing newborn at 5 weeks old. Weighed 7 lb 14oz at birth but didn’t regain his birth weight for a month. I’m glad I bought newborn sizes now. In fact, we actually went and bought more newborn vests and sleepsuits as 0-3 was swamping him.

Elisabeth3468 · 04/12/2024 16:48

There is a size 0-1 month and it's in between. My son didn't fit in newborn but fit nicely in the 0-1 month. He weighed 8lb 6. He went into 0-3 by 2 weeks old.
