Recovery after infection with c-section

I had a c-section 7 weeks ago and 5 days afterwards came down with a nasty case of cellulitis (an infection on deep skin tissue) which landed me back in hospital on IV antibiotics for 5 days.

Whilst I felt better in myself very quickly I still have considerable swelling and hard tissue/ scars around the area which was infected. I'm not sure how much this is due to the c-section, and how much is due to the infection - but i suspect it's the latter. It's numb/ uncomfortable with tight clothes - and most clothes are tight as there's a swelling!

I' m wondering if anyone else has experience of this infection and what their experience was of recovery? Thanks

I had a section and by 7 weeks my scar had next to no pain although did have numb areas so would imagine it is the infection.

I would see your GP or health visitor and just get it checked out.

I had an infection at six weeks and it took about two months for the majority of the scar to go down after that - though it was still numb and nobbly until a month ago (17 months later) and I did have some residual infection which needed antibiotic cream earlier in the pregnancy (about four weeks ago).

I took a shedload of arnica and it did help.

Some people are more prone to raised scarring though and if you are one of them there is nothing you can do about it (sorry). But vitamin e cream rubbed on can help a bit.

I had the same as you. I was rushed back into hospital 7 days after my CS when it burst open due to infection. Spent 6 days in hospital and had IV antibiotics for 5 days and another surgery to re-stitch the scar.

Felt dreadful when I was allowed to go home as I had another 5 days of mega strong antibiotics to take which made me feel sick all the time and completely took away my appetite. I lost 39lbs in two weeks ! Once the course of antibiotics were finished i began to feel much better. I would say it took about 8 weeks for my scar to feel a bit more normal and for me to stop worrying about it all the time.
