can you get contractions on top of your tummy? or are they all supposed to be lower down?

Did they tell you where the placenta was when you had your last scan?

Phone the maternity unit and ask them what you should do. This does not sound right.

that's where the MVs strap the baby monitor but TBH I never felt anything at the top - mine was all towards the pelvis area, like really bad period pain. Think it depends on the person, as the MVs kept asking me whether I was feeling any 'tightenings' - still no idea what they were on about, even after childbirth! You'll soon know if you're expericing contractions, tho... take it easy, relax, rest up and try not to worry. Oh, and get some sleep if you can!! good luck xx

You need to phone them now, just tell them what's happening. Pain like this is not normal.

DaisySteiner · 27/04/2008 17:56

Please phone the hospital and get seen. Don't take no for an answer.

This is how my contractions presented themselves with DD1 to begin with. Right across the top of the bump. They later moved to all over and back. Def call hospital.

Please get seen NOW it is NOT@ ok to leave it, it's not normal and you need to be seen immediately to make sure something isn't wrong.
If it comes back it could be too late.
That kind of pain can indicate pre eclampsia if nothing else.

PLEASE go in and be checked out.

Fllight · 27/04/2008 18:36

That is where your liver is and if you have PE it could mean the baby and you are at extremely serious risk.

It might be nothing but please go xx

Fllight · 27/04/2008 18:38

Are you having baby at Maidstone? My friend had her two there

avenanap · 27/04/2008 18:38

Just phone them anyway. It's what they are there for. Don't leave it, it may be coming from the base of the placenta. Give them a call. Please.

Am I right that you're 5 days overdue? Placental issues are relevant then I'd imagine.

Not trying to scare you but you do need to go in pet.
