Hiya

A show is good but doesn't mean labour will start soon.

I had my show 2 weeks before I gave birth to DS2.

I would try and carry on as normal.

But it is good!

You could go into labour soon, but it doesn't mean 100% that you will

Disenchanted · 27/04/2008 13:21

Oh the backache is a good sign too.

I would just try to take it easy, get some rest just in case things do start up.

Good luck

Lulumama · 27/04/2008 13:21

don;t panic! if no contractions yet, then don;t panic

have a shower or a bath.... if your back hurts, try not to lie on your back, but sit on a birth ball or lean over it. could be hours or days yet, so just chill, and your body will tell you when it is time. you can always give labour ward a call and let them know things might be getting started... or wait until ctx start..

just potter about, eat & drink if you need to and don;t forget to go to the loo

somebodyhelpme · 27/04/2008 13:21

I would go and have a rest, nice bath, and make sure your hospital bags packed, It can be 2 weeks after a show that labour starts, but backahce is a good sign, and 3rd ones can be quicker, although mine wasnt! you dont need to ring the hospital until youve got regular contractions, Good Luck!

Disenchanted · 27/04/2008 13:21

I wouldn't ring the hospital yet personally, unless the show had alot of blood in it?

Oh sounds good.
I would try to take things easy but probably wouldn't try to sleep.

Good luck

belgo · 27/04/2008 13:24

I also had to wait two weeks between a mucusy show and the birth. Sorry! It's a good sign, but doesn't necessary mean birth is immininent.

Hope you don't have to wait too long!

Nbg · 27/04/2008 13:26

Just carry on with your day.

Dont ring the hospital until your contractions are 5 mins apart unless your worried or concerned.
Otherwise they'll only send you home or if you call them it'll be "hot bath and paracetamol".

I had a sweep the morning I had my ds2 (3rd child) and was told I wasnt very favourable.
Got a few niggles but nothing regular at all.
Come 3:45 they were still coming so I called the hospital and got the hot bath and tablets thing.
15 mins later it was like someone had turned on a contraction switch and they were coming bang on 4 mins and very intense. Had to call the hospital straight back and they sent out a mw (hb).
I had ds2 2 hours later

So anything could happen really.
But if you get on with things it will stop you from going insane wondering when baby will appear

VictorianSqualor · 27/04/2008 13:29

I had two shows from 40weeks, had to have a CS at 41weeks, so it didn't mean labour for me.
It just means that your cervix is opening, which can happen weeks before the event!
Hope it is the big day though, I know how annoying the waiting is!

slim22 · 27/04/2008 14:10

shower and rest.

Could be weeks though.

Walk a lot and get some sleep.

Disenchanted · 27/04/2008 15:45

Anything??

gameforalaugh · 28/04/2008 12:21

nothing yet guys just panicked me a bit, still got more of a 'show' today which seem to be continuous and dull back ache, I feel very 'ready' physically though. Going to try raspberry leaf today, can't wait much longer, I have got to manage the girls tomorrow all day and i am continually finding that harder, it's such a shame because I want to do nothing more than play with them and spend time but they both pyhsically and mentall exhaust me!!!
Now 40wks + 4 any ideas (apart from sex) to get me started? I am so nervous I actually don't fancy going into labour just yet either as I so so don't know what to expect -any ideas for mental preparation for what is to come labour wise I mean??

arrange something so labour is 'inconvenient' like a lunch or something in your best pants and clothes

guaranteed just when lovely main course turns up you're waters will break all over nice pants and you'll have to leave

could it be that you are subconsciously worrying about having the girls, what plans do you have for them whilst you're in labour?!?

others

breast pump/nipple stimulation
walking
pineapple
