Cancel birthday party or not?

It is my babies First birthday party this Saturday. But we have all (1 year old included) gone down with what we believe to be norovirus this week. We have been symptom free since Tuesday. But I want to cancel the party because I’m terrified of passing this on, it’s been so awful. Partner is undecided but also leaning towards cancelling as we do not want to pass this on to any of our family and especially not all of the babies that are due to attend. Just looking for some advice: what would you do? This is the first time having this virus and due to the violent nature of what we have experienced my gut feeling is to cancel the party and stay away from people for another few days at least. Any advice welcome, sure I will get the same conclusion which is to cancel it. My worry is will we still be contagious even with no symptoms? Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't be contagious after 48 hours from when you last had symptoms, I think you'll be fine but do what you think is best. Either way I'm sure your DD will have a good 1st birthday!

I'd be happy to attend your party seeing as you've been symptom free since Tuesday, which will be ample time once we reach Saturday. You could run it past your guests to double check, but I wouldn't automatically cancel.

48 hours since symptoms is what is expected, so you're more than in the clear for that. So long as you've given the bathroom(s), especially the toilet(s), a good scrub I wouldn't worry.

With most viruses, they are most contagious before and at the time of displaying symptoms.

If the last of the symptoms ceased on Tuesday and the party isn't until Saturday, then I don't see any problem if you want the party to go ahead.

If however, you're looking for an excuse to cancel as can't be bothered then yes, blame the virus
