Hi
I just wanted to post a positive c section experience and recovery as I constantly come across horrific birth stories etc.
If it puts one person's mind at ease then, win!
I ended up having an emergency c section at 10cm dilated & as soon as I knew we were being rushed in I was gutted. BUT, now 3 weeks pp I would absolutely have a c section again.
- I had an epidural, so it was quick and easy to top up with no rush to put me under.
- Theatre was chilled with music playing.
- Considering it was an emergency based on fetal distress, every single staff member was chilled.
- I felt nothing but a bit of tugging and was kept informed all the way through.
- Recovery post c section I had some meds for 5 days and a pico dressing (ask for one! game changer) & my wound is hardly visible now already.
My daughter had to be whisked away to NICU, however for solely judging the experience based on the c section alone it can go well and can sometimes be easier to recover from than a natural birth.
Just sharing a positive story for those who may have one coming up ☺️
Also, Hillingdon Hospital- amazing care throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. I couldn't thank them enough.
