C section- positive experience

Hi

I just wanted to post a positive c section experience and recovery as I constantly come across horrific birth stories etc.

If it puts one person's mind at ease then, win!

I ended up having an emergency c section at 10cm dilated & as soon as I knew we were being rushed in I was gutted. BUT, now 3 weeks pp I would absolutely have a c section again.

  • I had an epidural, so it was quick and easy to top up with no rush to put me under.
  • Theatre was chilled with music playing.
  • Considering it was an emergency based on fetal distress, every single staff member was chilled.
  • I felt nothing but a bit of tugging and was kept informed all the way through.
  • Recovery post c section I had some meds for 5 days and a pico dressing (ask for one! game changer) & my wound is hardly visible now already.

My daughter had to be whisked away to NICU, however for solely judging the experience based on the c section alone it can go well and can sometimes be easier to recover from than a natural birth.

Just sharing a positive story for those who may have one coming up ☺️

Also, Hillingdon Hospital- amazing care throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond. I couldn't thank them enough.

Lovely idea, I agree that when I heard my babies first cry during the c section it was the most beautiful moment

My surgical team were also so amazing and kind.

I found the recovery a little longer as I haven’t been able to rest properly so would just recommend taking it easy afterwards
and making sure you get the right pain relief in hospital. Also a nightie for hospital, steri strips and salt water for my scar (at home) stretchy leggings and tights and high waist knickers have been life savers too!

I also wished I packed some ready made formula bottles for the hospital and sugar free sweets helped the bowels move after the op.

overall a positive experience 💛

Love another positive c section story!

We took some RTF which was lucky as she was whisked off to NICU and I didn't see or hold her for another 24hrs so they were able to feed her those.

I'd have another c section in a heartbeat for another birth though!
