Episiotomy stitches internal

Hello
I had a second degree episiotomy with my DD1, its been 4 weeks since i gave birth and if i dont take mt ibuprofen the pain can be quite unbearable still. I had a look and the actual external cut looks pretty much healed. However if I don’t take painkillers there’s a horrible stinging pain from the scar. Secondly, how long do the internal scars take to heal? I can see beige thread inside my vagina but how long till these disappear?

I think on average it’s about 8 weeks, so yours sounds normal based on what you’ve said and you’re still well within that timeframe.

It can vary though, worst case scenario episiotomies can become chronic and never heal (this is what has happened to mine), but this is rare and yours sounds like it’s healing.

Thank you for your response! I have been checking it every day and the part where they stitched me up near my vulva is still quite swollen although it does not hurt is that normal?
