What would you do? now 40/41 weeks

Second baby, first came at exactly 38 weeks after my waters broke. Both IVF. This time, my due date changed from the IVF embryo transfer date (6 October) to the dating scan due date (1 October). So I'm 40/41 weeks now, depending on which date you look at.

I'm not in the U.K., and they've said it's fine to go to 40+12. As all my documentation says 1st October due date, this is coming up soon.

I can have a sweep tomorrow. Or be induced. Don't really want either, but it's starting to get late. I'm also step b positive which is worrying me.

Any insight on what to do?

I would agree to a sweep- if baby is ready that can help… in fact I would agree to several sweeps before I’d want to try induction. Trust your body and go for walks sideways up and down stairs too! Good luck!

I would go for the sweep as well. Had them with both of mine - not sure if they helped but certainly would be trying that before induction. Mine were both 41+ weeks and all was fine. Had the same as you with one of them about the dating scan moving my due date forward so that baby was probably actually 40+3 and I knew date conceived so that fitted for me and made me less worried about being 'late'. Seems mad that they won't go off the embryo transfer date. I don't know much about strep B but I think as they know about it then it isn't a problem

I personally wouldn't go for a sweep or an induction, especially as you are Strep-B as there is a higher risk of transferring infection. I would wait it out until the absolute latest date possible. Baby will come, and it is my experience that medical professionals are always keen to interfere. Mama to 3, first induced and it was traumatic, 28 hrs, he got stuck (shoulder distoscia) and I lost a lot of blood, crash team etc. He was blue and needed help.

Next 2 births I refused any and all intervention, they were perfect and came at 40+8 and 40+10. Good luck

It's hard to know what to do. If I wait, induction may be my only option left, and the sweep may have helped things progress naturally. Who knows.

I am getting twinges and hope it happens in next 24 hours. I expected this with my first, but instead went into spontaneous labour after my waters broke. Crazy how they're so different.
