C section Playlist

I'm having a ELCS and I know you can make a playlist to be played. Wondering if someone can answer, if I create one on Spotify, will my phone have to be plugged in? How does it work??

I only ask because I'll want my phone for them to be able to take pictures/videos etc as DH phone is a lot older. He doesn't have Spotify.

Thank you!

Do you have a Bluetooth speaker? That way you can play music and take photos at the same time rather than relying on your phone speaker. It is possible the staff might have one anyway, but better to not risk it.

Obviously make sure both are fully charged before you go into theatre, so no need to plug in. If your phone drops battery fast, get a power pack as well. They're very useful.

My c section was fast so I didn't spend too much time in the theatre. You should be fine with fully charged phone. I am so grateful for the amazing team I had around me as once DD was born one of them took my phone to the side room they used to check and clean DD and had taken photos for me. I didn't even realise they were stitching me up as didn't feel or see them working.

I'm a midwife and we have a bluetooth speaker in theatre for such occasions but it would very much depend on your hospital, worth asking your midwife perhaps.
My trust wouldn't allow to bring one from home into theatre due to infection control.
Take your chargers too in case you need to wait longer than expected - you can charge your phone in recovery while you wait your turn.

Me and DP put some songs on a playlist on his phone (had been told to do it this way). I remembered to give the midwife my phone to take pictures but totally forgot about the playlist... It all happened pretty fast and everybody was chatty that I didn't miss the music but we do the same for our section section in a couple of months just incase!

Ah thank you - I'll be sure to ask my midwife that at the next appointment! X

I thought a lot about this on the run up to my ELCS.
On the day, was so nervous/ excited I completely forgot and couldn't even tell you what if anything was playing in the background 🤣

We played via Spotify either on their Bluetooth speaker or a corded one, can't remember. But my partner used his phone for the music and mine to take photos/video so if you can take both in and install Spotify on his then do it.
The music was mainly calm and instrumental and I think it did bring a nice extra element to the c section and made it feel less clinical, but it wasn't necessary so don't stress too much over this bit. The surgical team did mention how nice it was though!
