Has anyone written a thankyou letter to the people that cared for them during/before/after labour?
I was talking to MiL about it earleir saying I really want to write and thank them and she said that they get tons of complaints but very rarely any thankyous, which I think is pretty poor tbh.

I bought some chocs for the labour ward and a bottle of champagne for the MW who did my antenatal care with DD1.

For DD2, I didn't see the same MW twice for ante natal and had a planned CS so not a MW in sight. I ended up making a complaint about the PN ward but did write a kind letter to the chief MW who sorted it out.

I don't know whether to write a seperate letter to the anaesthetists (they really helped me) or just one to the maternity dept detailing everyone.

As a student mw it really does my heart good to even get a 'thankyou' just so I know people appreciate the emotional and mental hard work that labour can be sometimes for the staff involved. And that sometimes we stay on beyond our shift and don't see our own children because we think getting you off to a good start with yours is an important thing to do. It's usually the people who are the hardest work who don't thank you and vice versa.

VictorianSqualor · 19/04/2008 16:57

I'd like to think I wasn't hard work, but the people who dealt with me made a huge impact on me, if I don't write they won't knwo just how much and you know the best thing? They didn't even seem to be trying, they were just great people.
