40+3 and absolutely exhausted with two under 4 😅

Really just wanted to hear some stories from mums who’ve been in the same position.

DD1 41+6
DD2 39+5 induced due to high bp

Caved and got an a sweep today and was told I’m 3cm dilated and cervix is favorable. Haven’t lost a mucus plug - hoping the sweep works as I’m dreading another week of this. Have an induction booked for 42+1 but hoping it won’t get to that.

Has anyone with a history of long gestations had success with a cervical sweep at 40 weeks while 3cm dilated? I know this is probably silly to say but I’m worried it won’t work because it wasn’t painful at all…

Thanks 🙏

dc1 41 weeks
dc2 40 +1
dc3 41 weeks.

Didn't have a sweep, but dc3 really just popped out very easily once they decided they were ready. Smile

I feel for you op! but just think you're already 3cm that's pretty much a third of labouring ! It took me 26 hours of contractions to get to 3cm! Good luck when it happens I hope it's smooth and fast x

I still went overdue with number three, as I had for one and two, but the difference was that my third induction took 45 min from breaking waters and starting contractions. Like you I was 3cm so they could break waters easily after one pessary to soften cervix. The first two inductions took days and days. So if you do have to be induced it might be much much easier.

Thanks everyone.

As an update I lost what appears to be some slight mucus plug this evening accompanied by a slight bloody show. I don't want to get my hopes up though as I know it could be nothing - plus I remember losing a much more 'sizeable' amount of mucus plug with DD1.

Will keep updating in case anyone comes across this thread when searching in the future, might be helpful x

40+5 and nothing yet :(

Mucus plug still coming away slowly over the course of the past 24h but that’s pretty much it.

Dawn20200 · 08/09/2024 06:26

@mrssunshinexxx

Yes sweep #2 booked for tomorrow evening … not very hopeful as I feel all the first one did is irritate my cervix :/

41 weeks today :(

Can you manage to have some sex ? Walk up and down the stairs sideways hold the bannister quite a few times. Ask husband to give you a massage with some baby oil if you lay on your side to relax you get the oxytocin sky high x

@mrssunshinexxx I have tried all the things I’m just coming to terms with the fact that if it were up to nature my babies would just stay inside beyond 42 weeks.

At this point I’m considering an induction purely for mental health reasons because I’m clearly not able to handle this. I actually chose to wait as in my country inductions start being suggested at 39 weeks so I brought this on myself hehe

How soon could you be induced ? Book for one if that's what you fancy doing x

Update from me! Sweet baby boy made his debut on Monday at 330am.

Very mild contractions started at 10pm on Sunday and he was out at 330am! I’d been having mild period aches all day Sunday but didn’t think much of them since they were almost negligible. If it’s any encouragement my contractions were very bearable using hypnobirthing techniques till I got to hospital at 230am and was told I was already 7cm dilated! I couldn’t believe it.

Wish I hadn’t driven myself crazy waiting around, little bub came in his own time in the end.
