Pre term labour?

Pre term labour?

Currently 28 weeks pregnant with some period like cramping and some tightness (not sure if this is just baby moving tho) some mild back pain but enough that it is noticeable. Been running the toilet all morning with loose stools, had a lot of discharge when I woke up this morning (no blood) and cervix feels about 1.5-2cm dilated.
Does this sound like early labour or just body preparing. Very concerned as it's so early. My first child was 2 weeks late! X

Have you assessed your own cervix?! Or been to triage? I'd recommend a call to the hospital - may be Braxton hicks, or a stomach bug causing cramps and diarrhea but impossible to tell on MN. Better to get checked. If you've had a baby before your cervix never fully closes again so it may always be that dilated! Hope baby stays cooking for a good few weeks yet!

Oh and if you have assessed your own cervix it's important to let the midwife/doctor know at hospital as there is a swab test for preterm labour that can be less accurate after recent sex/ vaginal exams/lube use so helpful for them to know what the best assessment is!

@Midwifelife thanks for your reply. Are you not supposed to check own cervix?
I have been advised to take pain relief and wait 2 hours then call back if still concerned.
