Last baby first contraction 12am then she was born at 1.30am so 1 hour and a half start to finish this will be baby 5 will this time round be even quicker I'm scared and have massive anxiety over it thanks x

There's every possibility that it could be similarly fast after a previous fast birth.
What has your midwife advised? I wouldn't let it worry you at this stage, I'm sure they will have come across similar situations and will be able to work with you to sort out a plan.

charlie19900 · 22/07/2024 20:09

@hulahoopqueen my midwife worried me even more she said as soon as I get one pain get to the hospital 😭 it's make me panic even more. I'm having growth scans due to previous small baby's so my anxiety is just up in the air at the moment x

It's probably likely to be similarly fast this time as well. Would you consider a home birth? That way the midwives would come to you to support you rather than any risk of baby coming on route.

charlie19900 · 23/07/2024 14:34

@TheOneWithUnagi I'm not allowed a home birth that's another reason I'm worried all my baby's have been small and came early spontaneously I have growth scans but never been induced x

How far away from the hospital are you?

TheOneWithUnagi · 23/07/2024 15:09

Well they can't stop you having a home birth if that's what you want, and they need to support you. Personally I would insist on it but obviously it's up to you what you are most comfortable with.

My first labour was 4 hours and my second labour was just over 1 hour (both first twinge to birth), my quick first labour was one of the reasons I planned for a home birth as 2nd labour is often faster. I would probably have ended up having my baby at the side of the motorway if I had attempted to get to hospital and, as it was, the midwife only just arrived in time.

I had a similar situation - it was expected that I’d give birth fast, early and with complications. I was admitted to hospital at 37 weeks so I was in situ in case jt all kicked off before my planned CS.

It was all fine - a week on bed rest in a private room was quite a relaxing end to pregnancy!

@SurpriseTwinPregnancy 35 mins no traffic but with traffic over an hour xx

Becasue my baby was sideways (transverse). They don’t come out that way naturally!

But anyone has a right to a CS, just ask.

jennyt82 · 23/07/2024 19:29

My first labour was 7 hours, second was 3 hours, third was 4 hours and my fourth was 15 hours! I really wasn't expecting that!

I'm not sure but if you want to advocate for your rights have a look at AIMS / birthrights who have some really useful information. I'm also sure that the midwives will be helpful if you talk through your (very valid) anxieties and discuss the best options. All the best x

Why are they saying your not allowed a home birth?

I have 6 altogether with my 3rd I only just made it to the hospital. I gave birth in a cubicle with just the curtains round. The last 3 I gave birth at home. The last 3 were the best births ever. They were pretty fast

charlie19900 · 23/07/2024 19:57

@Shitmum2024 hey so I've had prem baby's one being born spontaneously one emergency C-section and restricted growth and I've also had a placenta abruption but that was 14 years ago they said I'm
High risk. X

Ah ok . . Im sorry you have been through that 💐

I think I'd try to stay at home during the last week. I was always worried about going into labour when out somewhere. Have the car fuelled up at all times and everything you need in hospital packed up ready to go into hospital. At the first contraction I'd get off to hospital. My first DC I was induced at she took 8 hours. My second DC was smaller and only took 1 1/2 hours. I was having contractions in the car and terrified I'd give birth in the car but I got to the hospital with 20 minutes to go and no time for enema. I went straight into a delivery suite.
