Hello, how many weeks are you when you were given your date for your elective c-section?

I guess it can depend on the hospital and area.
I’m in Scotland, my first c section I was informed at 36 weeks.
My second c section was at a different hospital and I was called one week before c section- 37 weeks.

AmandaHoldensLips · 03/07/2024 18:08

About a week / 10 days before.

icallshade · 03/07/2024 19:25

I was given mine last week at 18+4

OopsieeDaisy · 04/07/2024 01:02

I went into labour naturally at 38 weeks without having received my date 🤣

sleepandcoffee · 04/07/2024 03:14

9 days before the c-section

PlantDoctor · 04/07/2024 03:52

I was given mine during the meeting I had with the consultant, a long time before the surgery. It seems to vary wildly though.

SJ89SJ · 04/07/2024 04:05

Had mine last week!
Got a provisional date at 36w and confirmed at 38 (they moved us back a day). C section at 39w

YellowLoafers · 04/07/2024 05:20

I was given date at 34 weeks. Then they called me the day before given date to push back by a day due to the consultant’s strikes. But was all absolutely fine. Agree it varies wildly, my friend in another area who was pregnant at the same time was given her date really early on.

donkeyleg · 04/07/2024 06:32

First was an emergency, so on the day. 2nd was at my 20 weeks scan and 3rd was at my 12 week scan.

I had my first at 41 weeks, second booked in for 40 weeks and third booked in for 39 weeks

sugarplum33 · 04/07/2024 06:44

I had a text at 37+1 to book my section in for 39+5. They then phoned 5 days before the date to say they were very quiet and did I want to go in the next day but we had childcare sorted so decided to stick with the original date.

FrenchMustard · 04/07/2024 15:40

Got given mine at 20 weeks

RosiePH · 05/07/2024 10:19

I was given mine at 16 weeks, but this is quite rare. It was booked for 39+1, the first Monday after 39 weeks for me.

millennialprobs · 05/07/2024 12:18

Thanks every for your replies! I'm currently 21+6 and absolutely itching to be given my date! 🥰

Just be aware also that the date isn't set in stone once you've been given it. I was second on the list and due in for my elective early/mid morning and didn't make it down to theatre until after 5pm as there was just emergency after emergency. Much longer and I'd have been bumped onto the next day's list as I'd already gone 20 hours with no food and 11 hours with only sips of water and they couldn't just keep me waiting indefinitely.

MummyJ36 · 05/07/2024 20:39

I was given my date around 38 weeks but that’s only because the decision to have an elective section was quite a late one. I do think if there isn’t a medical concern (which would mean an earlier section than 39’weeks) then it can be normal to get it about a week beforehand.

Tasham90 · 09/07/2024 22:23

Found out baby was breech 38 weeks. Given a date 38+4 for 39 weeks so 3 days to get my head round the idea 😬. Got taken a day early at 38+6. Be prepared to have your time changed and sometimes day if you are elective. Mine was classed as elective. Didnt really have a choice. With baby being feet 1st 🙈 but i was to be 2nd that day at 1030. Got bumped due to emergencies. Didnt get taken down til 345 🙄 safe to say i was a hangry woman being starved for 20 hours 🤣
