C section recovery after birth

Hi all,

New mum here recovering from a c-section! Back home the following day after c section and had the beads removed by the midwife 5 days later.

She was please with the scar and the healing. However today (12 days post op) I noticed that once side of the scar doesn’t seem to be healing properly and is still very scabbed… has anyone experienced this or is this a concern?

Seems like the skin under the scab hasn’t closed 100% so worried it will get infected. The skin feels slightly raised but no foul smell or leaking.

would love to here some of your experiences with this!

I can't speak for myself but my daughter recently had a section, they removed the dressing after 9 days and it was closed beautifully. I'm sure everyone is different but if your concerned pop and see your practice nurse (assuming midwives have signed you off) around here the health visitors no longer help with this sort of thing.

Yep same as the above poster I am no expert, but going by what mine looked like at that point, yours does look more scabby. Hopefully it's fine, but check with your HV

@kwetu thank you! I have my HV coming tomorrow and then have a midwife appointment on Friday so will ask for their opinion on it! Hopefully it’s nothing concerning.

As a first time mum obviously a bit more anxious about everything seeing that the rest of the scar is healing so nicely…

Mine looked just like yours and healed very nicely - one end can be more scabby depending which side they start to stitch you up on! Mine is now totally faded and so small.

@snackprovidersupreme thanks for sharing making me feel much better! Yes I think it’s just taking a bit longer on that side! How long did yours take to fully heal?

Oo I actually don't remember. It just slowly became calmer and less sore until I realised it was all healed up! The blur of newborn life...!! It kept shrinking and lightening as my tummy deflated. I'm now over a year on and it's great!
