Double lobed placenta and retained placenta

I had this with DD1. My placenta wouldn't come out and had to be manually removed. I had an epidural but it was still horribly painful and traumatising. The placenta was double lobed which hadn't been mentioned prior to delivery.

DS1 placenta was posterior and single lobed came out fine.

DS2 I miscarried at 18 weeks and had to have a d&c for retained placenta but I think that's not uncommon at that gestation. It didn't help matters that I was very distressed when the OB was trying to pull it out using the cord. If I'd been calmer maybe she'd have managed to just pull it out.

I'm now pregnant with DD2 and it's been noted that the placenta is anterior and double lobed. I'm really worried that there's some kind of scar tissue (I've had 4 d&cs for miscarriages) or something which results in the double lobe and the retention and that the same thing is going to happen again as it did with DD1.

Anyone had this happen?

@JDob I am seeing an obstetrician. I was looking for other mothers personal experiences.
