Currently pregnant with no 2. first was 4 hours from first contractions to her being here though waters broke 48 hours before.

first 12 hours plus
second 2 hours 24 mins
3rd 41 mins 🫣

daffodilandtulip · 30/05/2024 11:48

First was over 12 hours. Second was over before Corrie finished, although they had insisted I was dilated around 5pm, I was just waiting around.

Itstoday · 30/05/2024 11:49

First 4 hours, second 2 hours. Both inductions as overdue.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 30/05/2024 11:53

My first was 4 1/2hrs from first contraction and they were as strong and spaced out from the first one as they ever got. My second was 3 1/2hrs from first contraction but they built up more slowly. I was worried I’d give birth in the car but I got to the hospital and they said I was 7cms, the baby was born 20mins later. Active labour was recorded as 8mins. If we have another one I think I’d aim for a home birth. I found the travel the worst part and almost ran into the hospital in between contractions as I was scared the baby was coming.

CheshireCat1 · 30/05/2024 11:54

1st about 3 hours, 2nd about 12, but much easier, 3rd about 5 hrs.

Nellieinthebarn · 30/05/2024 11:55

First 6 hours, second 4 hours. I stopped at two. I think I would probably have delivered number 3 in the car if I'd had another one, as we lived a good 45 minutes from our hospital.

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 30/05/2024 11:56

1sr one 4.5 hours

2nd one 12 mins -fortunately I was already at the hospital for an appointment as I was 7 days overdue!

skippy67 · 30/05/2024 11:57

1st 3 hours 50 mins
2nd 2 hours exactly. I was induced at 42 weeks. Waters were broken manually, baby was out 2 hours later

PeppedUp · 30/05/2024 11:58

First I woke up with contractions at 8am and son was born at 2am (he was stuck and needed forceps otherwise I think he would have been quicker based on how quickly contractions got to every three minutes).

Just had my second last week and waters broke at 2.30pm and baby was born at 4pm. There were no beds at triage when I arrived and partner really had to convince the hospital that I needed to be seen. Baby arrived four minutes after they got me a bed.

If I have another one, I’d call triage right away to warn them and tell them how short my previous labour was so hopefully they could keep a bed free.

First Labour 4 hours, second was 1 hour. Planned homebirth for this reason!

LadyDanburysHat · 30/05/2024 13:06

First 4 hours
Second 1hr 45 mins -home birth
Third 45 mins - home birth

IggyAce · 30/05/2024 13:11

Waters went first with both my dcs contractions started 12 hours later for both, dc1 was about 3 hours dc 2 was about 2 hours. With dc 2 I went from about 3cm dilated to wanting to push in about 40 mins, the midwife (student) was surprised.

annlee3817 · 30/05/2024 21:49

First spontaneous 5 hours from first contraction
Second induced 5 hours from waters being broken and syntocin drip starting

Globules · 30/05/2024 21:57

Both spontaneous:

First was 6 hours. PPH post birth, so I was refused a home birth for the second.

So I gave birth to second in the car following a 90 min labour, which included dropping the first at a friend's house. Dad didn't believe me when I told him second was crowning, so he didn't pull over. Second was born at 90mph in more ways than one 🤣

Smarshian · 30/05/2024 22:00

First 9hours (but 6 from being 4cm).
second 2hrs 45 mins (homebirth)

Chasingsquirrels · 30/05/2024 22:02

1st was 2hrs from first contraction, so somewhat shorter than yours.

2nd was approx 15mins from 1st contraction, planned homebirth but given the timescale it was also unattended.

Elsewhere123 · 30/05/2024 22:02

1st 24 hrs and 15 mins, 2nd 3hrs

Abitorangelooking · 30/05/2024 22:02

My second stage was ten minutes. They didn’t quite believe I was in labour.

soundsys · 30/05/2024 22:14

First was 4.5 hours and second was 45 minutes!

(Luckily a planned home birth, the midwife had to write up all the notes retrospectively as she arrived just in time for me to say "hello, I really think I need to push now!)

donutosaurus · 30/05/2024 22:38

First was 6 hours at home

Second was 45 minutes but in hospital - went in to be induced but didn't need it in the end

endofthelinefinally · 30/05/2024 22:42

First 5 hours, 2nd 2 hours, 3rd 1 hour.

socks1107 · 30/05/2024 22:46

First four hours. Second two hours

NewYearNewMeMamma · 30/05/2024 22:50

First was 6hrs, second 1hr 30mins, third 1hr 27 mins. Fourth started off quickly too, but baby turned transverse during contractions so I ended up with an EMC. I imagine it would've been about the same time as the quickest two though.

Elley123 · 30/05/2024 23:22

First one 3 hrs and 55 mins
Second 1 hr and 20 mins (that was fun) Middle of winter living abroad and an hour to the hospital in good driving conditions. Only just made it!
