Hi everyone, was wondering what your experience was like in new UCH maternity ward. Heard from a friend it's a bit impersonal...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Girth is good for getting baby out though apparently

Gave birth at BBC on old ward (wasn't aware that new one was open yet - I thought it was June 2008) in mid-Feb and had fantastic experience (water birth, gas and air, no tearing - must be girth :.), fab midwife). I spent one night in because of group B but was allowed to stay on BBC and not have to go up to the postnatal ward, which is a bit grim - think Victorian 12 beds in a room type situation, which is supposed to be rectified in new set up.

I'll say this, though, I spent about an hour on the labour ward before going to the BBC in order to get my meds and discuss possible induction (luckily avoided) and it was awful - the staff were so rude and I was treated really roughly. Consider choosing BBC if you can.

Aagh it sounds horrible....I'm at UCH and really don't want to give birth on the labour ward. Haven't been to see BBC yet but hoping for that or a home birth. The thought of stroppy midwives telling me what to do scares me to death!
