Labour suddenly stopped, what happened?

Hi everyone,
I'm pregnant with my second child - 38 weeks and 5 days, I was admitted to the hospital yesterday and was having regular painful contractions three times per ten minutes for several hours, I was 2cm dilated and doctor was happy to go ahead and break my waters.
I also had a bloody show.
And then before doctor could do anything it just suddenly stopped? And they sent me home. No contractions since.

What happened?

It's so frustrating, isn't it?

How long after did labour resume, if I may ask?

Not unusual. I bet it’s stress/fight/flight hormones from going into hospital that have stopped the oxytocin and set your Labour back.

This sort of happened to me. Sex followed by a long brisk walk got the contractions going again.

Prodromal labour? I had a night of contractions at 39+6 in my most recent pregnancy - mostly every 5-7 minutes but 3 in 10 at times but they never felt painful so I never went in and they stopped in the morning. Was also 2cm dilated when midwife examined me at 40+1. Had a few more episodes over the next few days but much shorter (and hour or two of regular contractions) eventually delivered after a quick spontaneous labour at 40+6! Most people who had experienced similar said when it really got going it was quick (as in my case).

Happened to me when I went in to be induced, had the pessary, then12 hours of contractions, 2cm, and then it all just stopped. Didn't pick up again for another 5 days when they broke my waters and put me on the syntocin drip, was gutted

Aww congratulations 🙌. I started contracting with dc2 on Monday night, 2cm dilated Tues am at midwife appointment, finally gave birth on Friday morning.

Another one saying stress. We're mammals. Loads of other mammals will wait til they're alone in the dark feeling safe before they give birth (horses, sheep, cats...).

When I was in labour with my second, every time I was examined by the midwife my contractions would slow right down again.
