Sweep this morning- was already 2cm dilated- labour imminent?

A dear friend is 38 weeks pregnant with her first baby and because of continuing high blood pressure has been booked in for an induction on Sunday (!)

She had a check up with the consultant this morning, and he did a sweep to see if it would help things along. He also said her Bishops score was 5, and that she was already 2 cm dilated anyway. She bled quite a bit at the time, but this has tapered off to just a bit now (which consultant/she's not worried about) as well as having had a show this afternoon.

I am so excited for her! I am 26 wks pg with dc2 and my baby went bonkers in my tum when she told me that she'd been booked in- maybe something to do with me bouncing round the hallway in excitement though

Said I would ask on here for the collective wisdom of mumsnet, does this sound like things could take off any time soon do you think?

sounds positive , especially bishops score of 5 ... she needs to have lots of sex now ! helps ripen the cervix further
if she does get induced , then remind her to remain as active and mobile as she can , especially in the early stages so gravity can help get baby down onto the cervix.

Anythings possible.
When I had a sweep with dc3, they MW said I wasnt favourable at all.

I had the baby later that day.

Oooh brilliant! Will tell her dh to get jiggy, even with his bad back . Just spoke to her and she's having niggly periody cramps so is bouncing merrily on her birthing ball at the moment.

Don't you just love it when people are about to become parents!

i had a sweep 2 cm dilated (but was 3rd and cervix never closes up) and it did bugger all...still was induced due to high BP (and prehaps i shouldn't tell you this) ended up with emergency cs.

really hope yourt friend goes into lsbour by herslf
