C-section recovery questions

Had a c-section 10 days ago and have a couple of questions on recovery.

Sorry if TMI but since about 5 days post-section I’ve had a lot of loose stools, I only need to go at normal intervals but when I do I get quite intense cramps before the urge to go? Is this normal?

Secondly my stomach is still very tender to the touch below my bellybutton, a lot of the other pain is gone now. Again is this normal?

Hi OP! I had both these things when I had my c section last September. They went after a few weeks. Make sure to take it easy!

You are only 10 days following major abdominal surgery so very normal to still feel tender. They say it takes 6 weeks to recover from having a baby, get lots of rest and help where you can :)

Hi, I've had 2 emcs, happy to advise!

  1. Everything is shifting back into place inside you and going to the toilet may feel painful/weird for a while but should settle after a few weeks. If it doesn't then ask your midwife or GP.
  2. My tummy was painful to the touch but it gradually reduced over time, unfortunately lasted more than 6 months but did completely go within a year. I think it's because your muscles there were stretched during the surgery.
Good luck and congratulations!
