So , baby number 4 and I've got an overwhelming concern I might need a c section this time around..I don't know where this feeling is coming from but I'm terrified!! I've had all vaginal deliveries before. What are c sections REALLY like?? I'm absolutely terrified of needles have a complete phobia over them , is the epidural bad? 🙈

Can I just say, having had 2 ELCSs, that the spinal is just THE BEST THING EVER! I skipped into the theatre for my second, so excited for the lovely, relaxing comfort of the numbing. You still "feel" your body being shunted around to a degree, but everything is really softened and no pain at all, just warmth and loveliness and no need to go for a wee 😁I'm actually sad I won't get to experience it again. Ask to be distracted whilst they sort out the spinal, but remember you cannot see as it is all behind you, and lots else going on around as they prep the theatre, which I found really interesting. Also my recoveries were ace and after the initial couple of weeks I genuinely feel my recovery was better than all my friends with their tears and prolapses from vaginal birth.

Also with my first, I sobbed and blubbered waiting to go in - I have tokophobia and had never had an operation. The experienced staff seemed used to it, although the poor trainee midwife was a tad alarmed and was trying to soothe me in a rather panicked way! No judgment.
