waters braking - will it happen again?

My waters broke before I felt any contractions with DD. I went to hopsital for monitoring before being sent home and returning a few hours later 5 cm dilated and in labour. I thought this was quite normal but have read some where that only 15% of women begin labour with their waters breaking. I am due again in 6 days and looking out for any sign that labour is about to begin (very fed up now ). As my waters broke first with my first labour is the same thing likely to happen again? It's just such a definate sign rather than all these dull aches and pains I keep getting that don't end up going anywhere.

Hi there. I had waters breaking first with PG1 & 2, but in PG3 I had niggly aches and pains for a couple of days, then a few contractions that went away over night, then a show followed by really strong contractions. MW broke my waters when I was fully dilated. So unfortunately I don't think there's much of a pattern.

HTH, good luck. Rx

Don't know the statistics, but waters breaking were my first symptom of labour with DS, but with DD the midwife had to break them as the baby was coming out.
Hope you get on with it soon

I thought as much. How annoying! I have been getting niggly period type pains for a few days. No show but I didnt get that with DD. Come on baby!

My waters broke before labour with both of my children's births.

waters broke after 5cm dilated with both DS's
not sure if it is a case of this is what Your body does in labour? so could therefore have a repeatable pattern?

First birth waters broke before I had anything else, never even had a twinge or a BH, thought I had wet myself. Went to hospital confirmed it was waters told to go away and come back in 48hours, was back within the hour painful contractions.

Second birth - waters never went at all had to be broken by MW. Labour started with contractions, was 10cms in about 30 mins but head was still high and waters intact. The minute waters were broken head came down and she was here 5 minutes later.

Third birth - can you ask for waters to be broken asap?

I asked my consultant this as same thing happened with me (though unfortunately labour didn't follow and had to be induced). He said maybe, but not necessarily, which is pretty much what everyone else here has said too!

first time round waters broke first at 39+4 (ended in c/s)

second time ended up with an el c/s at 40+10 instead of my longed for VBAC, as DS had no intention of budging. Waters sucked out during c/s
