Sex after hindwater leak?

I'm 38+3 and had a gush of waters this morning. I haven't had any trickling, further gushes or contractions since then, so the midwife says it's a hindwater leak.

Does this mean the leak is sealed and there's no risk of infection? If so, does that mean I can still have sex? I'm keen to start things off if possible and sex seems like the most fun way to do that!

Thanks

Without examining you they cannot tell if it is hindwaters or waters full stop - as I had a trickle not a gush at 38+6 that's exactly what they said to me - it wasn't right, I had no more leaks until the next day, and when I had a scan then, my waters had gone altogether. I wouldn't risk it. Have a hot curry and some pineapple (and I was told a relaxing bath was OK). But not swimming or sex.

Ah - shame! Best to play it safe though. Thanks for the advice slinkie.

hey fleecy, i had this at approx 32 weeks. ask for a scan to check how much fluid around baby? that's what i had to do in the end as was scared to risk sex beforehand. my fluid replenished and healed up so was fine. if you pop to anc they should do it.

if not... semen apparently works better ingested
