Is this early labour 40+3

So many false times of intense period cramps... But this has been going on for an hour now and I'm wondering if this could be it. They feel like really bad period pains. Sometimes there slightly further apart which makes me question them.
I don't wanna get my hopes up again!

It could be? I'm hoping it is for you Wink

RedRobyn2021 · 18/03/2024 20:14

I would say 100% yes your body is gearing up and practicing

RedRobyn2021 · 18/03/2024 20:18

Mine did something similar in the afternoons for 2 days before things really ramped up

Tealblue112 · 18/03/2024 20:51

Oh man I hope it's not over two afternoons 😣 on two and a half hrs now and hubby is blowing up the pool and I'm in bed feeling like it's calmed down 😳. Who knew it was so hard to tell what the feck is going on!

If they feel like period pains still it's still early on so they won't be that regular. Sounds like it's started though. Just relax and let your body do its thing, good luck

CadyEastman · 19/03/2024 06:02

Amy news yet @Tealblue112?

I did do that too for a shorty while with both my PGs before everything kicked off.

Plenty of RLT today if you're still waiting Wink

Tealblue112 · 19/03/2024 06:18

Still waiting. It all suddenly stopped 😔 slept for a couple of hours then occasional painful contractions but then nothing. Been a long uncomfy night. So cross there's now not a lot going on and other half doesn't know to work or not...

heldinadream · 19/03/2024 06:21

Can he get back from work fairly quickly? What time does he need to leave for work?
It's a tricky call but he's right to be considering not going. Try and get some more sleep if you can. Presume this is your first?

Best of luck. Flowers

Duckinglunacy · 19/03/2024 06:25

My body did this for a couple of weeks, but at past 40 weeks I’d hope you weren’t in for the same ride. I wonder if spending time on all fours might help as I think my prodromal Labour was to do with baby positioning. I had a long active phase also but after spending a couple of hours on all fours baby turned and things sped up.

CadyEastman · 19/03/2024 06:43

Can he get back fairly easily? If it's less than a couple of hours I'd send him to work personally.

I seemed to do this on and off for a couple of days at least before going into labour.

Namerchanger1 · 19/03/2024 06:47

Exciting, mine also lasted like this. Have you got everything ready - snacks etc?

Tealblue112 · 19/03/2024 07:36

He's only working 15mins away so I've told him to go.
Baby is in a funny position she's almost back to back .

Not first but i was induced last time at 39 weeks.
I've been having intermittent cramping/bad Braxton hicks periods pains for over a week and intermittent mucus plug.
Just got excited that they were so regular for 2 hrs.
Going for a walk and I will come home and go on all fours and the ball not a bad idea
Pool set up and bags all packed

How are you doing @Tealblue112 ?

Tealblue112 · 19/03/2024 13:31

Grumpy fed up tired haha. Nothing much to report. Went for a walk.. chilled morning.
Now watching Downton abbey. Thankful my MIL has taken my 2 year old for a walk.

Hope you've managed to rest and hopefully even get more sleep! It can't be long now. Can it?

Any more twinges?

Tealblue112 · 19/03/2024 18:59

@heldinadream had a reasonably relaxing day just got into bed. Some on and off contractions or strong BH. Who knows don't trust my body any more.
Midwife tomorrow hopefully sweep will kick start things!
Thankyou for everyone's support

Hope the MW can give you some reassurance today @Tealblue112 Wink

Induction booked for next week 😭

OP posts:
CadyEastman · 20/03/2024 19:16

Bubba will be here before then if your body is practicing already and, if your body is like mine, those practice contractions will have done half of the work for you Wink

heldinadream · 20/03/2024 19:25

You've got a few days grace then OP.

Relax. (And eat lots of curry and have some sex, too, if you can handle it!).

fourelementary · 20/03/2024 19:26

You can ask for another sweep @Tealblue112 and try some sex, nipple stimulation and make sure you orgasm too- all the ocxtocin will deffo get things going and the sperm has the same stuff in it as the pessary for induction…
I am sure it sounds like your body is gearing up to give birth soon so I’m betting you won’t need your induction date!!

I have heard that it doesn't matter how the sperm gets into your body. Apparently through the stomach is supposed to be just as good...

Tealblue112 · 21/03/2024 07:37

Midwife tried a sweep yesterday but cervix was too high and long she managed a bit of a stretch but not much else. She felt that baby is in a poor position she thinks that's why I'm not going into labour yet. She's head down but she's sitting sideways and has been for weeks.

Try watching something funny. Laughing brought on labour for me.
