Episiotomy (and catheter) healing

Hi all, I'm 6 weeks PP and still have some pain from episiotomy / temporary catheter.

I can see my stitches are healing well, they just can feel quite tight? If that make sense... and soreness is extending from that region. Not sure if this is normal after 6 weeks?

On top of that, I have urethral/clitoral pain when I pee - throbbing pain that lasts 5 seconds or so post wee. I've had a course of antibiotics but this doesn't seem to have resolved.

Did anyone experience anything similar? I have my 8 week follow up with the GP soon so planning to wait until then and see if I'm any better!

I had an episiotomy and at my 6 weeks check up the nurse thought the stitches looked a bit infected so I had antibiotics and that seemed to help speed up the healing a bit. The whole area was definitely sore and felt weird for a lot longer than I thought it would be. I think by 4months pp I felt fairly normal again. I thought it would be a few weeks!
Definitely make sure the GP checks you properly and tell them any issues you’re still having.
Also, I don’t know if you have anyone near you that you can access, but there’s increasingly more postnatal exercise coaches. One near me also does a sort of health MOT and can check all sorts for you and give you advice on how to best heal from different types of birth.

It took me a good 8 weeks not to feel discomfort from my episiotomy and even now 11 weeks pp I feel slight discomfort especially around/on my period. In regards to the clitoral pain I’m still experiencing some soreness and discomfort with that and a bit of swelling. I am having physio thanks to forceps and I’ve been reassured that it’s all normal I just didn’t expect it to take so long to heal.

Thank you both!
Hoping this is just natural healing but will bring up with the GP definitely!

Try bathing with a fee drops of tea tree oil and lavender in the bath, soothing and healing.
