Hi Ladies

I am feeling nervous about the prospect of major surgery and wondered if anyone could give me a positive story about their c section experience. Reading up all about catheters, bleeding etc is quite scary!

Thanks

Sorry, me again. Having the actual spinal block was the most uncomfortable bit, the anaesthetist did try and attempt it with no pain relief, luckily I did have a fabulous midwife who insisted I was given gas and air for this and held my hand making sure I was ok. I didn’t manage to see her again after to thank her for advocating for me like that but make sure your needs are known to the team with you because it really made all the difference to my mental state going into surgery.

I had 2 planned C sections and was great. The second one was a Friday. I left hospital on Monday and on Tuesday morning was able to lift my 15 month old out of his cot and carry him downstairs.
Try not to worry about it.

Hi all, thank you so much for all your stories, I really do appreciate it :) When I saw a gynaecologist the other day she was talking about how I must be aware that it's major surgery and that I also must be aware of the risks at my age, so it's encouraging to hear real life experiences. I forgot to say I am 40 +, so I am apprehensive of how my body will respond, and also to the breastfeeding, but I guess probably all of that will be secondary if I actually achieve a healthy pregnancy and birth.

@App13 I am truly amazed at celebrities who seem to be back and up and running so quickly after surgery - my priority will be just taking it slowly and healing, and walking as much as possible.

@Garman good to know you found the catheter helpful - I don't like the idea of having to have a tube down there, but it seems like it's just part of a C-section. Were you given anaesthetic before it was put in?

No I wasn’t, on first C-section it was fairly uncomfortable and not nice experience but by my third it was grand 😄 It’s a quick procedure, not painful but a bit of discomfort and over quickly.
