Sounds like another dad that will be leaving all of the childcare to the kids mum because he'll either be in the pub or asleep. Poor woman! He won't be waking up to give it a night feed will he? She might as well be a single mum for all the help she'll get from him.

He does seem like a numpty, but to be fair, my husband had barely woken up when our dd was bored. We had been up timing contractions, but after he's run my bath after the midwife had told me to have a paracetamol, he went back to bed thinking that nothing much would happen until the morning. I had a bath and tried to go back to bed myself, but when I couldn't sleep, I got up without waking him. I woke him up a couple of hours later and dd was born 45 minutes after arriving at hospital.
When I went into our room, switched the light on and said 'we're going NOW', he did say 'where?' I'm sure I'd have had a witty comeback had I not been in pain!
He's a very handson dad - more so than most - he just thought that nothing would happen until morning, and we'd be going in for an induction and he ought to get as much as rest as possible...
