Recommendations on birthing pool???

Hi,

So I am having a Homebirth and really would like a birthing pool! I didn't have one with my first as it all happened too quick at the hospital, so don't know what type I'll need?

I would like a seated one, but there seems to be 2 sizes- a round one and one that is slightly longer (oval shaped). It's just me in there and I'm avg height (5,7) and weight, but still wonder if I'll be grateful for the longer one with more space...

Any experiences and recommendations on size?

I don't have a specific recommendation, but I'm part of my towns homebirthing Facebook and they're always for sale or hire on there. Have you joined one yourself? Easiest way to find information I think!

I used barefoot birth pools both times and service was brilliant x

I had the small birth pool and actually I ended up just squating at one end so defo big one would not have been worth it. Also easier to fill. I got mine from gentle births. Very worth it overall

Likewise, we borrowed one from our local group linked to the hospital. I didn't manage to use it and neither did the person who had it before me!
It was a mini birth pool in a box. We did inflate it and seemed fine for one person but if you'd want your partner in there as well it wouldn't be large enough.

I used this website:

www.gentlebirthsbirthingpoolhire.co.uk

It was easy to set up, had a seat, a padded floor for keeling and even a cup holder built in 😂. Was very easy to set up as well and had the best birth using it!

Good luck! C

I am 5 '8 and used the smaller one btw and it was fine. I would only get the bigger one if planning for a partner to be in it as well

I have the smaller birth pool in a box one, plenty of room for me (5'4) and less water needed to fill it.
