I have two beautiful children - born in 2018 and 2021.
With my first I needed an emergency C section - my waters broke one morning and he wasnt born for another 2 and half days. As i went in for my CS they noticed my temp had spiked - this turned out to be sepsis and I was in hospital for a week with very strong antibiotics.
With my second i had an elective CS, everything seemed to be going fine then baby went a blue and floppy (his lungs weren't expanding properly) so he was taken to NICU. I was sewn up, taken off the operating table, a nurse checked down below and noticed I was bleeding a bit too much so the doctor came back in and went in vaginally to start with. At this point she nicked my cervix on entry which obviously didnt help with the bleeding. She then decided to open me back up and an emergency team was called. They also lost a part of my placenta. After a while of them prodding about I started to feel what was going on so the anaesthetist put me completely under. I ended up needing 1 unit of blood but was home in 2/3 days.
It was obviously very traumatic for me and my hubby. He was escorted out of the theatre and then told he wasn't going back in. He says at one point he wasnt sure if he'd be taking me or the baby home.
Since then I have had a de-brief and told that i would just be slightly higher risk if i had another. The consultant said shed be happy to perform the c section but would have blood on hand as well as do a full hysterectomy if I started bleeding.
Would you go for third? Has anyone else any similar experiences?
Thank you for reading if you got to the end.....
