Polyhydramnios, breech and large baby - 35 weeks

Was in triage since 10.30am this morning and got home this evening. Started off with high blood pressure which calmed down then baby went a bit crazy on the CTG. Had a scan as midwife could hear a lot of "swooshing" and wanted to check everything.

Baby is measuring 7lb 5oz (38 weeks) and is extended breech with excess fluid. Waited to see the doctor afterwards who has booked me in for another scan next week at 36 weeks. I've been given the ECV leaflet and can either go for that if baby is still breech next week, book a section date or try a breech delivery (although the latter is probably a no given his position and size).

Has anyone got experience of this? Never had this with my first two! My first was 8lb 10oz (40+2 weeks) and second was 8lb 13oz (38+2 weeks).

If I was to go ahead with a planned section, when would they roughly booked this in? Will they wait until 40 weeks given his estimated size?

Thank you for reading this far!

No, it’ll probably be booked in for 39 weeks.

Had diabetes and poly diagnosed at 35 weeks. Options were c section or induction. C section booked 37+2. The chances of an emergency were so high that we decided to book one.
Baby was healthy and it was a moment I'll never forget and not a trauma.... we had everything we needed and were calm.
I will never regret it.

I know the circumstances aren't the exact same but we had so much fluid I was getting bigger by the day. He was floating around in a big sugary swimming pool in my case so was the best thing for us both. Covered a nurse in so much they had to change 😂

@katherine123x Thank you for sharing your story! I'm so pleased it was positive.

I'm back at the hospital today for a scan to see if baby has moved 🤞🏼
