After three doses of prostin I am only 1cm dilated...

and I have self discharged from hospital as I am having no contractions and haven't had any. Most that has happened is I feel a bit crampy and I only had 2.5 hours sleep on the ante-natal ward so hoping to get my head down for a bit.

I have just had a warm bath and looking forward to a decent nights sleep and then I am supposed to be going back in tomorrow to start the process again. That's another three doses of prostin... Has anyone had this?

I really can't see it working as my Bishops Score was only 3 at 6am this morning and I haven't been told it since. I hadn't heard of having SIX doses of prostin and wondered if anyone is aware of the value of this?

Also completely mentally worn down and not sure I want to go through all of this again for it only to fail. If I decided I wanted a caesarean, how would I go about getting one? Given the high risk of having one as a first timer being induced I am tempted to skip out the middle bits, well, would at least like to be on an even footing when I speak to the consultant in the morning.

ANY help or advice appreciated!!

I went in to be induced last Sunday at 40+13. My heart wasn't in it as I had a Bishops score of 0 and felt I was in for a long process and possibly a caesarean at the end of it. I really wanted to wait longer.

For one reason and another I wasnt given a pessary that night, they tried to rupture my membranes and that wasn't possible either. I self discharged myself too (they were keen to push on with whatever they could think of next).

I am now at 42+4 and still nothing happening. I have now agreed to go for an elective section on Sunday (42+6) if nothing happens before then. I'm still not sure if it is the right decision but my reasoning is that as they feel I am still quite unfavourable for induction today I could go through a lengthy (painful) process for it to end that way anyway, so I may as well go in fresh and prepared.

It is a difficult decision to make. No one can say for sure what the outcomes will be. Certainly the constant mentioning of stillbirth terrifies you, even though the risk of it is low.

Hopefully in the morning you will have a clearer idea of what you want to do. Best of luck with it all

Feel much better after a cracking 12 hours sleep last night! Going to go back in and talk to the consultant about where we go from here.

Good luck goldie, hope everything works out for you. That was my same reasoning on the cs thing, I don't feel like this is going to work, my body seems to be saying no so maybe I should just wait it out a few days and go straight to cs if she hasn't arrived in a few days. At least I'd probably be in a better mental state if nothing else!

MMH - hope it is all going well for you

MMH and OBG hope everything is okay for you both.
Again I say, although I seem to be a lone voice, I chose a c/s at a similar stage to you and don't regret it a bit. I don't dispute the posts that have encouraged you to wait longer but want you to know that it's not wrong to have a c/s if it feels the right thing to do. The main thing is that you feel in control of whatever decisions you make.

Hope that makes sense.

Just to say that MMH had her lovely baby girl at 655 this morning by emergency CS. 7 pounds 12 oz. Bet she's glad all this is over!!
