if your vbac didn’t work, what happened?

Repeat performance of first time around, baby back to back and positioned awkwardly

47 hour labour then to theatre for forceps, failed forceps as her heart dropped low and didn't recover after contraction so straight to c section.

Same problem as first time around, baby back to back with head flexed. I tried vbac and failed. 3rd was planned c/s and just as well as unknown breech LOL my babies just got themselves in a weird position....must be my pelvis shape...

This sounds awful and I’m surprised they let you go so long second time around. what was the section like?

How long until you got the c section second time around? Did you labour long?

It's hard to remember exactly maybe about 4/5 hours I think. There was much less panic 2nd time around. I was disappointed, but at least I gave it a good try. Would have been much easier just to have had an elective c/s. But I was determined to do it myself LOL
My babies were all 8.5 lb plus, so maybe too big for my pelvis?

Fipfop · 12/12/2023 20:17

Induction failed again, was over due with high risk pregnancy so elcs was only option left!

Did you get close or did they just decide it would take too long and risk scar rupturing?
My first labour too far too long due to baby’s position.

2nd time was over 40 hours. I did sneak breakfast in so I got pushed back. I think i just have sloth children. Both had big heads and were just shy of 10 pounds. they both came out with big cone heads so I think they probably were just too big for me. I remember the midwife examining me saying I’ll never have pelvic floor issues lol.

It's about 25% chance of needing another CS which is similar to someone having a first baby.

If you are very keen for a vaginal birth I'd look at planning birth outside of an obstetric delivery unit and whether you'd feel comfortable with the pros and cons. Being on a delivery suite will significantly increase the chance of intervention. There is a background risk of the scar breaking down but this is still a very small chance of harm to baby.
If your hospital has an on site birth unit you could ask to be there. It might take some negotiation but offers benefit of a hospital if you need it but less unnecessary meddling.

Nope I wasn't even close to a VB. I think i dilated a bit to a 5/6. But They said they didn't want to leave me as long, as too many risks,m of rupture plus he started getting a bit distressed. Nothing I could have done to have helped the situation.

Contractions were painful though!!

@BiscuitLover3678 the section itself was ok but I lost a lot of blood so was poorly for a while afterwards.
