Tips for asking consultant to bring section date forward

I have posted about DH having to travel 12 days post op. Seeing my midwife today she's booked me to see the consultant again next week about possibly moving the date forward 3 days or so. Planned for 39+5 at the moment, which is concerning in itself as I do go into labour but always end in emergency c/s (twice before) at 39+6.

So with these two reasons how do I convince the consultant to move it forward. Frankly if he just moved it to 39+2 I would be going home at the time I would be coming in and that would give DH and I two weeks + before he went away. I tried the "I go into labour on my own" card already with no success.

I am not about hysterical tears!

That is pretty unusual - try not to be too worried if you do go into labour because labour is a stimulation to the baby and makes it more ready to be born.

I do think though that the consultant should agree to your reasons for bringing the CS forward - just tell him honestly why you want to. Good luck.

Forgot to ask how your babies were at delivery? Often they come out screaming!

First one did, second one didn't breathe for 8 minutes but that was because of Strep B infection in the placenta and she's frankly lucky to be here at all. Adding to my worries!

Thanks for the support - we see him on Thursday and it looks like DH can come now so all the better

Consultants "helper" saw us today and she agreed to move it straight away, they only do Tues/Fris here so they moved it three days forward to the Friday so I am very pleased with it all really.

Fab visit all in all, got to hear the heartbeat as a bonus!
