VBAC after a planned section

Hello everyone,

I have searched for a thread on this topic but couldn't find it so I'm starting my own.

I am not even pregnant with my second yet, but we will start trying next month. I am wondering about whether to VBAC or not.

In all the threads I've read the advice is that a planned section is easier than emergency, and so it's better to do that than try for a VBAC.

In my case though, I had a semi-planned section (high blood pressure, refused induction and was overdue so had a section as was my birth plan - had never been romantic about natural birth)

It was calm and fine but also terrifying and the recovery was worse than expected. I was fine and left the hospital within 24 hours, was up walking right away etc, but the healing was rough.

With a toddler running around, a VBAC seems maybe better? But then, do I want to mess up two regions when I've already got the scar from one? Am I being insane to want to experience childbirth? I never wanted to before!

What would you do? Any advice? Stories of VBACs good or bad??

Not insane at all. I’d wait until you’re pregnant again (as it can take a while anyway) and then speak with your midwife. Vbacs are really common and can be great. They have a much lower threshold for cs so you can basically be like ok I’ve tried this, I’m done! And go to section. Doesn’t have to be full on emergency. You’ll know what to expect this time.
