Kings Denmark Hill - how to get there ??

Probably a dumb question - but given there is no longer any car parking at Kings , how does everyone get there ? ??

We are a 15-20 min bus ride away but I’m not sure I’m really going to be feeling like waiting at the bus stop in labour …. Ubers are also patchy round here especially when they’re looking at such a short journey so they often don’t take the job

Local taxi - but then there’s still the waiting for it to arrive.

Midwife at my first appointment make me feel like a bit of an idiot for asking . Shame they don’t have a “labour parking zone” like Lewisham does which seemed a good idea !

That is where I parked when I gave birth the last three times. Never had a problem finding space. Only issue is that they only accept cash!

Is this 1st baby? MOST (not all but most) of the time with a 1st baby it isn't a huge rush to the hospital. You should have time to wait for a taxi or have someone drop you off outside golden jubilee and then go and park up the road and meet you in there.

Assuming your first, likely it won’t be a mad rush. Once they say you should go in, surely there’s time to call a mini cab (explain situation!) or DH drops you and goes to park somewhere. Everyone I know in London went to hospital in taxis for their births. Better as you don’t want to worry about paying for parking

There are a few drop off spaces just before you have to turn right to exit, outside the mortuary! We are often there at night and can usually get in there. Otherwise yes road that runs along top of Ruskin Park is restricted for a couple of hours per day but if you have the app can do remotely.
