I am now 34 weeks pregnant and thinking more and more about how my birth is going to be this time. This will be my 3rd baby, both previous labours have progressed quickly. First took a while to establish but went from 5cm to having him in 2 hours and 8 minutes, only 2 pushes and he nearly ended up in the toilet and midwives didn’t have time to get their gloves on 🙄 Second was 1 hour 55 minutes from start to finish, he was born on the way to hospital and I don’t remember pushing at-all my body just took over. After both births I had PPHs, although only small in comparison to some people’s experiences.. but scary none the less! I also fainted after my second birth, I think due to a mixture of blood loss and shock.
Anyway..
3rd time doing this and I’ve now realised how traumatised I am from my last birth, it’s not something I ever really thought about until these last few weeks but I’m terrified of not getting to hospital again, losing too much blood or baby being born and not breathing and no one there to help us 😩 I’m having regular nightmares and panic attacks now. The hospital is a half an hour drive and I would have to wait for childcare to arrive, although they are on standby it’s going to take a little while for them to arrive. My partner also works anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour away from home!
I will be seeing my consultant this week but just wondered if anyone had any similar experiences? I’m seriously considering asking for either an induction or elective c section.. Is this unreasonable?
