My sister is due to deliver here in the next few months. Has anyone had a baby there recently?

How was it?
Thank you

I've had both my babies there. Nothing to complain about. Is there anything in particular you'd like to know about?

I guess the post natal bit mainly as I've heard some horror stories about not getting pain relief when you need it and it being really hot!

This is universal across most hospitals I think!

Take plenty of food. It is hot and staff are stretched thin. Birthing was fine, after care was not. Make sure your sister asks early if she wants pain relief etc. But I don’t think it’s any worse than anywhere else tbh.

TBH I went into postnatal not really expecting anything. I aimed to do as much as I could myself, which thankfully I could. Whilst I was there, the drug rounds were on time, though I didn't need anything more than what was prescribed. Food is to the bedside, and was decent. There is out of hours/snacks if you request it/miss a meal, but I bought my own snacks (which I highly recommend) to tide me over. I don't remember the temperature, but I prefer it warm anyway. TBH, the only bad part was the babies at night. But when there's 4 newborns in a room, no-ones going to be getting much sleep.

I gave birth there once.

I had a good experience apart from they tried to send me home when I knew baby was coming. I stood my ground and was moved to the spires room just in time for baby to arrive.

I didn’t stay as we were allowed home a few hours after birth.

I was moved into a private room on spires, so can’t really comment on the Labour ward.
