Has anyone managed to insist on this? What did you do?

My local one is through a door to the consultant-led unit.

Yes, I did with my second vba2c. I planned a homebirth, then 'allowed' them to barter me down to a water birth on the MLU 😉 Ask to speak to the Head of Midwives.

I’m 37 weeks and was aiming for this too but since speaking with the midwives I’m happy to go to the delivery unit but decline the constant monitoring.

I could have gone to the mlu, they just needed to speak to the consultant midwife to be “signed off” as you would be going against guidelines. In the end I decided that I felt more comfortable giving birth in the room I laboured in before. (They still have a pool in our delivery unit which is my main aim).

Best of luck to you ☺️

I've heard people getting it if they insisted on home birth as an alternative.

I had vbac in consultant unit, I cried on the hospital tour as the mlu was so much nicer. When it came to it, I didn't give a shit about the surroundings!
