vbac - active birth / water

Hi
I would love to hear if anyone has had a vbac with an active birth or using water. Or if these are, indeed, viable options?
THANKS!

I know someone who did it about twelve years ago. That's about it! Hope someone comes along soon with more..

Would you like a bump?

CorrieDale · 05/03/2008 18:47

Well, I did both - kind of. But at home. The hospital was pretty clear that if I laboured there, there would be continuous electronic fetal monitoring, which would hinder my active birth, and a water pool was out of the question. At home, both were completely viable options.

Thanks - anyone else?

I don't have any experience, but I am going for a home waterbirth having already had a cs.

As soon as I step foot into a hospital they will be whipping the scalpel out, so I'm staying well away!

Oh, I thinhk Lulumama had a waterbirth after a cs, or she at least laboured in water - I think!

Keep an eye out for her, she's a doll.

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 17:53

I am indeed a doll ! but i had a dry land VBAC

water is fab for supporting the uterus , some units are keener than others for 'letting' you labour in water

active birth is great for any birth... you can refuse CTG and ask for intermittent monitoring, there are some good links to info about this on here. DaisyMOO has posted some good stuff abotu this, if you search for her posts. Also, daisy had a HBA2C

you might be as well to consider a home birth , where you can have your own pool

www.homebirth.org.uk and www.aims.org.uk are two excellent sites for helping you with what you are 'allowed' to do WRT to a VBAC.

Oops, lloks like I was talking out of my bottom

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 18:05

not at all, you remembered i had a VBAC, you get 20 points for that
