got separate ones with consultant and midwife. Any ideas what I should be asking or thinking about?

Hey! Bumping for you as I’ve got the same question. Got an appointment mid-October to discuss birth options. I’m hoping it goes ok.

I want to discuss:

  • what happened with my son that led to the C-Section and what is the likelihood of it happening again.
  • If allowed (my midwife says it is as the MLU is the floor below the labour ward so that are quite relaxed about having VBACs on the MLU at my hospital) what would labouring on the midwife led unit as opposed to the labour ward look like? What would be the early warning signs that I should move to the labour ward/ ask for a c section.
  • If they heavily recommend the labour ward over the MLU due to my experience with my son, what are the percentages of women who have a successful VBAC on both wards and am I just better off opting for a ELCS now, rather than having another EMCS?
  • Would they recommend labouring at home in the early stages or would I need to come straight in?
  • How long they would allow me to labour for?
  • Can I book a c section at 41+5 now in case I don’t go into labour as I really don’t want to have another induction!

I’m sure there is many more questions that I should be asking but not thought of! What are you thinking of asking?

They’re great questions thank you.

I’ve also been having a look online and read some different things about pain relief, like some trusts don’t give epidurals for vbacs.
