Do babies move when you're in labour?

This is probably a really silly question but I was wondering what tends to happens to babies movements when you are in labour.

I am having lots of painful BH this evening but they seem to be made worse by LO being a hyper lil bubba and going nuts every two seconds. Does this/Can this happen in labour too or do they tend to stay pretty quiet?

#4dc jumped around throught labour, right-up to the moment he proppeled himself out of me and across the bed!

JoshandJamie · 04/03/2008 22:54

Both mine were pretty still during labour. Don't remember them kicking or anything but then again, I wasn't thinking about much other than trying not to sound too much like a cow mooing.

coastalmum · 04/03/2008 22:55

sorry should have been 'through out' not throught.

JingleyJen · 04/03/2008 22:55

I have a clear memory of ds still kicking the whatsits out of me as I was trying to deliver his head.. so..yes.. for me..

chunkychips · 04/03/2008 23:02

Yes mine moved and kicked during labour

MissingMyHeels · 04/03/2008 23:02

Thanks for your responses There goes my theory that she'd stop kicking like mad when they turn into proper contractions...

Dd2 never stopped moving at all when I was in labour with her. The MW was having to chase her round my bump to check out her heart!

Tommy · 04/03/2008 23:09

DS3 moved all the time during contractions and everything - even the MW was surprised.

fullamilk · 05/03/2008 00:08

Mine turned round the wrong way (back 2 back) when i was 9.5cm!!!

stuffitllama · 05/03/2008 00:11

no movements for me, absolute stop

first time I thought the worst, complete panic

the second one moved like fullamilks, only the other way around (thank heaven or she would never have come out)

BurpyErnie · 05/03/2008 00:17

To be honest the baby moving was the last thing on my mind when I was in labour so I don't remember thinking about any movement, I just thought well, the birth canal ain't that big,. I was more concerned with timing everything.

jamsambam · 05/03/2008 00:17

it was totla stop for me too, untill about 9cm when the little sod corkscrewed and go stuck. he looked like Mr Conehead for days!!!

helibee · 05/03/2008 00:29

my ds was just like fullamilk and turned back to back during the last half an hour of labour!!

FAWKEOFF · 05/03/2008 01:10

DS was actually having a bout of hiccups while i was in labour with him....which made my contractions worse

derah · 05/03/2008 12:25

DD2 was wriggling away inside while her head was outside. It really was the oddest sensation!! I couldn't wait for the next contraction so I could get her out properly!!

Don't remember any other movement during labour (and this was only 5 days ago!) but I had other things on my mind!

PotPourri · 05/03/2008 12:28

DD2 did not stop moving for a second from the moment I went in to be induced, til she popped out 24 hours later. They couldn't even get 30 seconds tracking she moved that much!! She is still the same today! I do think that in later stages I was much less aware though - other things to think about!!

maxbear · 05/03/2008 13:09

I remember dd giving a gentle kick as I was pushing. Can't remember with ds but I think there were some movements but not as many as usual. Was a bit busy concerntrating on taking as much entonox as is humanly possible, to notice movements!
