Flu jab 5 days before c section

I have a flu jab booked for the soonest I’ve been offered but scheduled to have a c section 5 days later - in your opinion is the flu jab worth having? I know it’s a good thing to have but feel like it won’t give me protection in time for being in hospital and may give me side effects. On the other hand if I don’t have it as scheduled then I can see me ending up missing it this year with having a new born!

I'd have it. The idea of having flu and a newborn to look after does not appeal

I’d also have it.
I’ve had it several times for work (and when pregnant) and never had any side effects apart from a sore arm.

FYI you can get it done in Boots and usually you can get an appointment there way quicker than when the GP offers them.

Hi. I have had my Covid and flu this morning too and c section booked Friday. I did ring my consultant and check with her. She advised me to do it especially if I don't normally have symptoms 😊

Well done @Squashie. Sending you good luck for your section. Update us when little one is here if you get a moment? I'll be thinking of you.

It's a lovely time of year for a birthday 😊

Feel exhausted today though ... not sure if related!!

Squashie · 24/09/2023 14:31

@katherine123x oh no, I hope you feel better soon. I’ve just had to start antibiotics for an ear infection which will finish on Thursday so hoping that won’t affect the c section 🤦‍♀️

@Squashie do you have to have bloods taken before hand?? Might be worth mentioning it!

Squashie · 24/09/2023 15:24
