Forceps delivery

My baby is 6 weeks old and she still has a scar on her face from forceps delivery. It makes me so upset and worried it might be permanent :(

did anyone else have forceps delivery and how long did it take for the scar to go from your babies face?

My baby just turned 1 and he still has scars on his face 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not sure they’ll fade tbh.

i had a forceps and due to rush/position of baby the forceps was over her eye, with the big ‘loop’ of the instrument quite clear and a nasty cut just by her eye. Baby girl is now 7 months and you can’t see the loop scar at all, I can just about make it out if I look closely. This faded within 8 weeks. The mark by her eye was a lot more significant and although you can see it still it’s faded hugely and Just looks like a small birthmark. Please don’t stress about it! 😊

Thank you!! That’s reassuring. It just breaks my heart when someone points it out and asks what the mark is on her face 💔
hopefully it will go away xx

My DD was a Neville barnes forceps delivery and no scar. Was the skin broken?

We had forceps but even hours later the baby was in distress Staff did sod all Incubators empty so plenty of room Ended up being rushed to neonatal miles away Baby lost kidney due to thrombosis which they denied No wonder NHS losing money Neo natal etc is so expensive

Hey @Sammiexxx , congratulations on the arrival of your baby 🤗.
My baby boy was a forcep delivery and had the most awful facial bruising and grazes, took well beyond 6 weeks to heal. By about 3 months had completely healed so please don't worry too much. I'll attach some photos.

@Sammiexxx hi hope you and your daughter doing well did your baby’s scar from forceps went away if yes then at what age ?? Please let me know as my daughter scars went away completely after 2 days of delivery but after 2 3 days it left behind a sort of light brown scar on her cheek and black brown bruise on eyebrow I am so worried for her not able to even sleep that it might be permanent she is 4 months old now my husband told it’s fading but I don’t see much difference plz let me know
