Inductions during doctor strike

Hi all,

I’m 40 weeks today (yay!) but sadly no obvious signs of baby arriving imminently.

I have my overdue appointment with the midwife tomorrow and know that she can then book me an induction for any time from 41 weeks.

My concern is the junior and consultant strikes next week which essentially run from me being 41+1 for 4 days, and what impact this will have on non-emergency inductions. Has anyone had this conversation with their midwife/got any experience from previous strikes?

I’m wondering if I should prepare to be really direct with the midwife and ask her to try really hard to book me in for 41 weeks on the day to make sure it happens!

PS I’ve done my research on inductions, I know there’s risk and I know some of you will (well intentioned) advise that baby will come on his own time… I’m a big, nauseous, severely uncomfortable woman who has just survived the heatwave and plans to have an epidural. Please no lectures on this, it’s not going to help me right now 🙏🏻

Dr staffing in obs is no different strike or no strike. What determines when inductions start is beds on labour ward, midwifery staffing levels and clinical priority of baby and mum. Never the drs so wouldn't worry. Best of luck epidurals are fantastic still find them so rewarding to do 8 years later
